Global Wellness Day 2017 at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa (Day 1)
If you have been following me on Instagran (@jeancyu), you’d know that I spent last week’s long weekend at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa. My long weekend started last June 9, 2017 as we said yes to a healthy lifestyle and checked in the resort. We had a healthy dinner to prepare ourselves to celebrate Global Wellness Day on June 10.
Global Wellness Day started last 2012 in Turkey and since then, it has been celebrated in 73 countries as of 2015. 2017 marks the second year in which Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts took part of the movement, with each property showcasing complimentary offers unique to the destination and incorporating homegrown attractions and ingredients. Global Wellness Day at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa was celebrated with series of appetizing menus, fun fitness activities and wellness tutorials dedicated for guests to experience positive and mindful living.
My roommate for Global Wellness Day was MS. Ronah Bengil of Ron Does Things! Lol.
We had dinner at Acqua as Chef Andrea Burzio prepared a special menu highlighting healthy and sustainable ingredients, showing us how healthy eating can still be delectable.
Insalata di Pomodori Bio Feta – Naturally-farmed tomato, crumbled feta cheese, cucumber, Kalamata olives, aragula, capers, balsamic, and extra virgin olive oil
Passato di Verdura e Ricotta – Vegetable veloute recipe by Chef Andrea’s grandmother made using homemade ricotta. One of my favorites that night as I love vegetarian dishes, specially unique ones!
Tortelli Alla Zucca – Handmade tortelli stuffed with pumpkin, saffron reduction, caramelized walnut and watercress. For someone who’s a fan of guilt-free pasta dishes, this has got to be one of my favorites!
Macedonia Di Frutta e Gelato – Vanilla ice cream with locally-sourced fresh fruits marinated in lemon, sugar and mint leaves. I love how refreshing the combination is. Perfect way to end a meal, I must say!
I personally love healthy dishes so I really enjoyed what they had prepared for us that evening! You might think that these dishes are so light because most of them are just vegetables and fruits but boy, are they really filling!
