CICADA at Circa 1900 Casa Dos
As I have mentioned on my previous blog post, I’ll be sharing with you more details about the newly opened Circa 1900 Casa Dos especially what to expect from their menu. But before that, I’ll be giving you a short introduction on Circa 1900 Casa Uno and Casa Dos. Circa 1900 provides a short respite for those who aspire to promote a lifestyle that embraces a sense of balance and well being through exercise, meditation, eating better, preservation and appreciation of heritage and culture. If you want to know more about Circa 1900, you can read my previous post here.
Circa 1900 Casa Uno, the house which is originally owned by the Castillo family, is open for dinner daily and is famous for its unique function spaces . A lot of special occasions are held at Circa 1900 Casa Uno (used to be known as Circa 1900) as the venue definitely makes the occasion even more special. Function space ground floor level includes – Garden for 150 people, The Stable for 15 people, Sala for 50 people, Cucina for 60 people, an option for PWD and elderly access. The Upper level dining area is good for 100 people and includes a private room for 30. You might want to check out their Facebook page or contact them for private functions at Circa 1900 Casa Uno.

As I have mentioned on my previous post, Circa 1900 Casa Dos includes CICADA, tapas bar and alfresco casual dining, The Noshery Bakery + Sweets, swimming facilities and function venues. Function space includes Galleria Jereza for 60 people and the Belvedere. The Belvedere is an open air function venue suitable for children’s party, pool side party and as a venue for yoga, Zumba, Pilates or Tai Chi. Even though its located at the heart of city it has a relaxing atmosphere and ambiance like no other! During my previous post, I shared daytime photos of Circa 1900 Casa Dos. Today, I’m going to share with you stunning views, cotton candy skies despite Cebu’s gloomy weather that day!

Yesterday, some of my fellow Cebu Fashion Bloggers and I got the chance to be one of the first batches to try what CICADA has to offer. We went to Circa 1900 Casa Dos at around 5:30 PM, allowing us to see how the place looks like during sunset. I was glad to see cotton candy skies even though it rained a lot that day. They arranged dinner for us at CICADA alfresco area. The weather was perfect for an outdoor dinner, I must say!
As Casa Uno has established a reputation for fine food and wine, CICADA at Casa Dos is known for its casual comfort food for lunch and in between meals, tapas and drinks before dinner or for after dinner drinks. It’s such a nice place to chill and enjoy good food and drinks specially during late afternoon! You can also opt to dine by the pool or avail Dip and Dine wherein you just have to pay P500 to swim and consume P300 on food and drinks from CICADA. For Dip and Dine, I suggest you call first before going just to be sure that there are no wedding receptions or private functions. Imagine how awkward it is to be swimming while a private event is going on! Lol.
Dinner with a view!
We got to try CICADA’s all time favorite dishes from Salad, Tapas, Pizza, Sandwiches and Burgers, Mains, Pasta, Dessert to Cocktails!
Spice Rubbed Baby Back Pork Ribs with Redstone Potato Wedges (P450). I may not be a meat lover but I can’t say no to ribs specially when paired with Redstone Potato Wedges!
Spicy Seafood Sisig Pizza with Thai Basil & Fried Garlic (P320). One of my favorites from CICADA. I personally love pizza and I always prefer seafood or vegetarian pizza!
Pizza with Ham, Egg, Cheese & Aragula (P295). Gotta love pizza with Aragula! They are generous with the toppings or ingredients which makes their pizza really tasty and filling.
Chicken Sisig Cigars – Chicken, Mushroom, & Beansprouts (P185). Looks like banana turon but a savoury one! Let’s take a break from the usual fried spring rolls shall we?
Beef Burger with Grilled Onion & Gruyere Cheese on Turkish Bread with Aragula Salad (P290). Casual dining always involves burgers. It’s one of the dishes you’d love to have by the pool!
Spaghetti Bolognese with Garlic Herd Bread (P295). All time favourite for both kids and adults!
Hainan Style Chicken on Turkish Bread with Pickled Cucumber & Ginger Shallot dressing (P285). If you don’t feel like having a burger, you can go for a healthier option. They have interesting sandwiches to try, not the usual ham and cheese or tune melt!
Spiced Squid & Spanish Chorizo with Chili & Pepper (P220). Circa 1900 Casa Uno and Casa Dos always serve the freshest seafood!
Pasta Aglio Olio with Char-grilled Vegetables (P295). My favorite pasta dish at CICADA. It’s basically made of garlic in olive oil, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and vegetables but I believe it’s one of those dishes meat lovers will also enjoy!
Pulled Pork with Atchara (P210). I consider this dish unique because every bite screams Filipino. We don’t see native dishes in tortilla wraps which makes this dish very interesting to try. At first I really thought the filling was lechon and atchara! Lol. I suggest you also try the Leg Ham & Egg Omelete with Aragula Wrap (P225).
Barbecued Prawns with Mango, Semi-dried Nangka & Spiced Pineapple Salsa (P225). For a salad person like me, I love to have lots of ingredients on my salad just like the salad dishes at CICADA.
Caramelized Onion, Water Buffalo Cheese, Ham & Dates on Ciabatta with Moscato Glaze (P195). We really thought this was part of the dessert! Really interesting dish to try as we don’t often see this in other restaurants here in Cebu! Tastes like pizza if you ask me!
Char-grilled Pork Tenderloin with Garlic Cream Sauce & Redstone Potato Wedges (P295). Aside from the tasty and tender meat, I love how crunchy (and not oily) their Redstone potato wedges are! By the way, you can order additional Redstone potato wedges for only P95!
Adjacent to CICADA is The Noshery. It is a gelato station and air conditioned pastry work shop. It is a venue where artist, musicians and craft persons showcase their skills, interact with the public and display their completed products, including pastry products from pastry workshop. They created this venue with the purpose to foster community spirit and to encourage the practice of specific special art skill. The Noshery will open this coming August 2016! Another thing to look forward at Circa 1900 Casa Dos!
You always have to leave room for dessert when dining at Circa 1900 Casa Uno and Casa Dos!
Pastries and cakes from The Noshery
Sangria from CICADA
Their dishes range from P125 to P450 which I consider very reasonable for the serving, the kind of ingredients that they use and the ambiance. The place is truly a must-visit dining, lifestyle and leisure destination in Cebu as it’s suitable for local residents, domestic and international travellers, corporate clients as well as social functions like weddings and birthday parties!
Circa 1900 Casa Dos is finally open to everyone. It is located at Sanjercasvil Road, Gorordo Avenue, Lahug, Cebu City, Philippines. It is open daily from 10AM until 12MN. The swimming pool is open as early as 7AM until 10PM.
